The Surveys of Consumer Payment (SCPC), 2016 and 2017, are part of a series of annual studies that examines the payment behavior of U.S. citizens. This paper presents the SCPC’s latest editions, their content and methodology. It provides data on the adoption and use, in a month, of various payment instruments. It also gives estimates of consumers’ cash-management and banking activities. This paper reports the most important findings regarding consumer payment behavior since 2008, when the SCPC was established.
